Koblenz, October 2009. – Today’s highly fashionable furniture design features extra-wide horizontal and vertical cabinet doors that flip up. In kitchen cabinetry, this trend is taking over the lower price segment as well. For structural reasons, they always require the use of special stop hardware and gas springs. After all, these extremely wide and – often made of glass – rather heavy doors should open with precision and reliability for years to come. The infinitely variable LIFT-O-MAT gas springs from STABILUS are custom-tailored to these furniture applications. While theycan be combined with traditional cabinet fittings, they safely and comfortably lift, lower, dampen, and position doors, flaps, and workspace surfaces – in kitchen cabinets, bedding drawers, seat benches, or desks.
Safe function and top design
The LIFT-O-MAT FR is perfectly suited for the design of wide-running doors that open vertically. Also called friction gas spring, it provides progressive positioning of furniture flaps over the entire adjustment range. Horizontal cabinet doors that flip up can thus be held open at any angle. This maintenance-free gas spring can make ergonomic and highly functional kitchen and office furniture a reality. As a special highlight for the furniture construction industry, STABILUS will once again present the self-locking LIFT-O-MAT PTL gas spring at the SICAM in Pordenone (Oct. 14 - 17, 2009): In the compressed position, this gas spring is held by a locking mechanism, and with a gentle push, it extends silently upwards. This gas spring can lift integrated bar cabinets or headrests in upholstered furniture (living room furniture), as well as raise or lower monitors and power strips (office furniture).
Completely variable positioning
For the design of height-adjustable tables, STABILUS recommends its BLOC-O-LIFT product line, which combines a number of locking gas springs. If variable tilt adjustment is called for and higher weights are anticipated in practical applications, BLOC-O-LIFT gas springs are the right choice. Not only can they be mounted at an angle; when used in tilt-top desks, they even withstand the weight of several people sitting or leaning on the top. This gas spring line allows silent and easy adjustment with a minimum of force. The BLOC-O-LIFT T was specially designed for height-adjustable desk and worktable tops. A special feature of the BLOC-O-LIFT OBT product variant is that the table top can also be adjusted in the expansion direction without requiring an actuation mechanism. A function that is often needed in hospital bedside tables, since it allows for effortless height adjustment of the table, while providing rigid locking in the compression direction.
All gas springs from STABILUS are premium products manufactured according to the specifications of DIN EN ISO 9001 and the global ISO/TS 16949 standard. At the furniture supplier tradeshow SICAM (Oct. 14-17, 2009), the company will present its gas spring product lines in hall 6, booth C31/C37.
