Occupational safety and standards
Stabilus height adjusters comply with the current global standards for office swivel and task chairs. Certain workplaces place very special demands on seating furniture. For example, they must not turn or roll away in the standing position. They often also have to meet certain values for electrostatic dissipation. The extensive STABILUS product range offers optimum solutions for all these requirements. And all in the familiar STABILUS quality!
STAB-O-MAT / STAB-O-BLOC
Seating comfort in every position
STAB-O-MAT and STAB-O-BLOC gas springs have a comfortable deflection over the entire adjustment range.
In the lowest seat position, the suspension comfort of standard gas springs is determined by the material and shape of the respective end stop buffer.
Buffer as end stop
Different variants are available:
- Different rubber buffers with 8 mm - 40 mm height
- Standard height: 8 mm
- Polyurethane foam bumpers
To pamper the user with even more seating comfort, STABILUS offers various solutions, such as
- the integrated depth suspension,
- the comfortable spring deflection,
- the additional depth suspension.
Advantages
- Easy to realize
- Different variants
- Favorable price

The columns with integrated depth suspension
The "integrated depth suspension" optimizes suspension comfort in the lowest seat position.
The very progressive increase in force of the locked gas spring in the retracted position is improved by a groove in the guide tube.
improved. The user of the swivel chair can therefore feel the comfortable spring characteristics of the special end stop buffer.
Advantages
- Improved suspension in the lowest seating position
- Favorable price

The columns with additional depth suspension
An additional helical compression spring in the standpipe ensures exceptional seating comfort both over the entire stroke and in the lowest seating position. This spring is connected to the piston rod of the gas spring via the spring cup.
When the piston rod is pushed in, the coil compression spring takes over the additional depth suspension of the column. In all other lifting positions, the gas spring and coil spring act together, resulting in particularly comfortable and soft compression when the gas spring is locked.
Advantages
- Very high comfort over the entire stroke and in the lowest seat position

The columns with telescopic standpipe
The height adjustability of STAB-O-MAT and STAB-O-BLOC gas struts depends directly on the guide length and therefore on the standpipe length. An increase in the adjustment range inevitably leads to a longer stanchion and therefore to a higher lower seating position.
The STABILUS telescopic standpipe overcomes this effect with an additional telescopic tube. This solution enables a large adjustment range with a low bottom seat position without reducing the stability and guiding properties.
Advantages
- Large adjustment range with very low minimum height
- Full comfort

The anti-twist column
Due to the use or the special workplace design, there is a requirement that chairs must not rotate.
The anti-rotation column ensures this. Of course, all the advantages and full comfort of the steplessly lockable height adjustment of the STAB-O-MAT and STAB-O-BLOC column are available.
Advantages
- For special workstations without swivel function
- Full comfort
STAB-O-MAT - MC
The multifunctional pillar
In some applications, such as conference seating, swivel chairs should automatically return to a certain position after the load has been removed.
The MULTIFUNCTION COLUMN does just that: First, it moves back to the uppermost seating position and then automatically rotates back to the home position. The result is always a "tidy" picture. Of course, all other functions and the familiar comfort of the infinitely variable seat adjustment are also available with the MULTIFUNCTION PILLAR
Advantages
- Automatically returns to the home position
- Full comfort

The column with stop function
To give a sit/stand task chair the necessary safety in the upper adjustment range and the desired comfort in the lower seat heights, STABILUS offers the telescopic column with a stroke-dependent stop function.
Above a defined release point, a rubber stopper springs out of the column under load and prevents the chair from rolling away. Below this release point, the chair can be used as normal.
Advantages
- For sitting / standing task chairs
- Easy to realize
- No additional brake required
Release systems
for height adjustments
Axial release (standard)
The release function by axial actuation of a plastic plunger is the standard for height adjustments.
Axial release (with adjusting screw)
By using a screw in the plastic plunger, the protrusion and thus the release point in the lever can be precisely defined.
Standard release with 2.5 mm, or short release with 1.7 mm release travel.
Release force approx. 28 % of the F1 value or reduced to 18 % of the F1 value.
Radial "joystick release"
This version can be triggered from the side in any direction as well as from above. This function enables very flexible release and saves space at the same time.
Axial Bowden cable release
The easy-to-install, axial Bowden cable release offers maximum flexibility for relocating the
for relocating the release mechanism.
Radial Bowden cable release (fixed or 360° rotatable)
The fixed radial Bowden cable release is the standard for radial release systems. The rotating version of the radial floor pull release ensures a tension-free installation situation. In addition, it is no longer necessary to pay attention to the exact alignment of the gas spring during installation.
